Apple Tops JD Power Customer Satisfaction Study for Ninth Time in a Row

In order of importance, the key factors of overall satisfaction with traditional mobile phones are performance (29%); ease of operation (26%); physical design (24%); and features (21%). Who said Apple is in trouble?!

BlackBerry CEO Says Apple Isn’t Innovating Fast Enough

Thorstein Heins, CEO of BlackBerry, told The Australian Financial Review.

Apple did a fantastic job in bringing touch devices to market … They did a fantastic job with the user interface, they are a design icon. There is a reason why they were so successful, and we actually have to admit this and respect that.

History repeats itself again I guess … the rate of innovation is so high in our industry that if you don’t innovate at that speed you can be replaced pretty quickly. The user interface on the iPhone, with all due respect for what this invention was all about is now five years old.

He is right. iOS interface hasn’t changed drastically in five years. That’s because iOS is almost perfect and that’s why the iPhone has been so successful in the last five years.

Nvidia Compares PS4 Specs to a ‘Low-end CPU’

Nvidia’s Tony Tamasi to TechRadar:

Compared to gaming PCs, the PS4 specs are in the neighborhood of a low-end CPU, and a low- to mid-range GPU side, if the PS4 ships in December as Sony indicated, it will only offer about half the performance of a GTX680 GPU (based on GFLOPS and texture), which launched in March 2012, more than a year and a half ago.

Of course this is what he is expected to say, especially after losing the deal for both PS4 and Xbox 720 to AMD.

Not only the gaming consoles are optimized for games, but are offered at a reasonable price that people can afford. Plus, game creators will NEVER produce multi-platform games, yes games for both PC and consoles, that give a significant advantage on PCs. Battlefiled, Crysis, Tomb Raider are good examples on this.

He elaborates:

What you get today in terms of performance is what you’re stuck with 5-10 years down the road. PCs don’t have these problems, they are open and can be upgraded at any time to harness the power of newer GPUs for more performance and to take advantage of newer, modern graphics technologies.

Mmm, does he suddenly forget we are talking games not a general performance?!

Bloomberg: Surface Tablets Sales Disappointing

Ian King and Dina Bass for Bloomberg:

Microsoft Corp. has sold about 1.5 million Surface devices, people with knowledge of the company’s sales said, a slow start in its bid to crack the fast-growing tablet market to make up for slumping personal-computer demand. Microsoft has sold little more than a million of the Surface RT version and about 400,000 Surface Pros since their debuts, according to three people, who asked not to be named because sales haven’t yet been made public. The company had ordered about 3 million Surface RTs, they said.

Nothing new. We saw this coming
